Lonely Tear
A tear
singular
slides…
Another follows
then there are two
One by one they come
'til they stream down my cheeks
over my lips I slide my tongue out
the taste so salty yet the feeling of it
so sweet to rid myself of the pain and fear
Soon my chest heaves and a howl erupts out
and with this tear letting it becomes a duo
crying and howling each pain bubbling away
Sobs turning into screams as images now come
taking ahold of it all letting it go then keeping some
The madness subsides and the screams turn to whispers
the whispers to dull moans and tears slow to a trickle
until only two remain rolling over my cheeks once more
I taste the bitterness in them until only one falls
A lonely tear now as the others are gone
I lick it away and look once more
to the window and watch
to see the sun rise
my eyes dry
and I sleep
